Keystone Area Education Agency is seeking qualified Special Education Consultant candidates for an opening beginning with the upcoming school year. We invite experienced, student-centered educators with a strong background in special education to explore this opportunity to serve as an instructional leader supporting learners, educators, and school systems across our service area.
At Keystone, Special Education Consultants are valued members of our Core Teams and work collaboratively with educators, families, and communities to strengthen instructional practices, promote inclusive environments, and improve outcomes for students with disabilities (B–21).
Position Overview
As a member of Keystone’s Core Team, the Special Education Consultant serves as an instructional specialist providing consultative, coaching, and collaborative services within educational systems. This role supports special education and general education teachers through evidence-based instructional practices, program planning, and problem-solving to ensure appropriate services and placement in the least restrictive environment. The consultant plays a key role in Child Find, evaluation processes, and IEP development while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Qualifications
- Education
- Master’s degree in Special Education, or
- Master’s degree in Education with at least 30 graduate hours in Special Education.
- Iowa BoEE Licensure:
- Iowa Bureau of Educational Examiners license with a Special Education Consultant endorsement.
- Iowa Bureau of Educational Examiners license with a Special Education Consultant endorsement.
- Experience:
- Minimum of four years of successful teaching experience, including at least two years in special education.
- Minimum of four years of successful teaching experience, including at least two years in special education.
- Ability to travel to multiple sites within the AEA service area.
