Keystone Media Collection offers a variety of math intervention materials for preview. Most can be used alongside your core mathematics curriculum. While some are straightforward, others require training for proper use and full implementation.
Assessing and Developing Math Concepts
Assessing and Developing Math Concepts kit consists of 3 teaching guide books: Counting, Comparing, and Pattern, Addition & Subtraction, and Place Value, Multiplication and Division, a teacher planning guide and the nine assessment books from the Assessing Math Concepts Assessment series: 1. Counting Objects; 2. Changing Numbers; 3. More/Less Trains; 4. Number Arrangements; 5. Combination Trains; 6. Hiding Assessment; 7. Ten Frames; 8. Grouping Tens; and 9. Two-Digit Addition & Subtraction. Assessing Math Concepts is a continuum of assessments that focuses on core concepts and related "Critical Learning Phases" that must be in place if children are to understand and be successful in mathematics. Two-week loan period. For additional assistance contact AEA Math Consultant.
Number Sense Interventions
Designed to help kindergartners at risk for math difficulties with explicit, evidence-based interventions. They can be used on their own or as a follow-up to the Number Sense Screener. The interventions in the guide are a simple and effective way to boost key math skills such as oral counting, number recognition, and numeral writing. Includes 24 scripted lessons for helping small groups of struggling students (30 minutes each). Has photocopiable activity sheets & other materials. Reproducible pages.
SOAR Intervention (training highly recommended)
The Supporting Ongoing Achievement Responsively (SOAR) learning series was designed to identify and support students' mathematical understanding that is in need of further inquiry and development. SOAR Survey Tools offer teacher support in 3 parts: a set of survey questions, a monitoring checklist, and tiered survey summary. SOAR Activities are intervention activities designed and sequenced to support students across tiers of intervention. Each activity is aligned to the survey tool and designed to support student learning in areas of need. Each activity outlines mathematical foci, identifies the essential mathematical understandings, and provides questions to target understandings. Contact Keystone AEA Math Consultants for further information and implementation. Mathematics Operations and Algebraic Thinking: Addition and Subtraction. Three week loan period. IL 1-5.

Lessons and Activities for Building Powerful Numeracy
Building Powerful Numeracy for Middle and High School Students brought the world of research on numeracy at the elementary level to the secondary level, helping teachers build numeracy in their students and showing how that work supports students in understanding higher math. Now, Pam Harris continues her work by offering lessons and activities that promote her strategies for teaching as much mathematics as possible with as little memorization as possible. Two types of activities for building numeracy are included in this workbook: Student Workouts include reproducible worksheets that students can work on independently or in pairs, followed by robust class discussion to promote understanding of the ideas. Teacher Directed Activities are whole-class mini-lessons designed to help students construct numerical relationships as they work with the teacher. While the student workouts provide starting points for students to build important numerical relationships and choose effective strategies, the teacher directed activities provide opportunities for discussing, comparing, modeling, verbalizing strategies, finding and describing patterns, and making generalizations. Together they help develop the mathematical habits of mind that students need for higher math.
