Caring Connections for Social Emotional Behavioral Health

Engaging All Students

International SEL day is March 26, 2021! In honor of #SELday, we wanted to highlight the importance of embedding SEL instruction into your daily content and share resources for wherever you are in this journey!

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is defined by CASEL as “the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.”

Embedding SEL instruction into your daily core instruction has the ability to:

  1. Improve students’ social and emotional skills, attitudes, relationships, academic performance, and perceptions of classroom and school climate
  2. Show long-term improvements in students’ skills, attitudes, prosocial behavior, and academic performance
  3. Contribute to a decline in students’ anxiety, behavior problems, and substance use
