Mini-Grants and Group Discounts for Keystone Area Schools


Schools may begin applying for 2019-2020 mini-grants on April 1.

  • Application involves filling out a one-page form, signed by the principal. Some mini-grants may require documentation.
  • You may purchase licenses for all programs at any time throughout the year. However, pricing increases after June 1 and again after September 15 for some products.

Keystone AEA is offering schools mini-grants for Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress for the 2019-20 school year.  Appropriate for grades Pre-K through 6th grade, the programs reinforce the five pillars of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.  

Keystone AEA will provide these programs through this mini-grant at a cost to schools of $6.00 per student license. Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress are ONE product.

First In Math

ESL Reading Smart & Reading Mate

Keystone AEA 1 is offering schools a negotiated price for ESL ReadingSmart and ReadingMate for the 2019-20 school year.  Both programs are packaged together. ELS ReadingSmart is meant to assist ESL students to develop English language proficiency. ReadingMate is for students in 4th-12th grade that need individualized reading intervention.  

Keystone AEA 1 is providing this program at a cost to schools of $18.00 per student license.  ESL ReadingSmart and ReadingMate are ONE product.

Virtual Simulations, Gr 3-12

Keystone AEA is pleased to announce reduced pricing for Gizmos from  Gizmos are virtual simulations aligned to the Iowa Core that promote inquiry and exploration of both science and mathematics for grades 3 through 12.  For more information on Gizmos go to

ExploreLearning, the creators of Gizmos, uses a tiered purchasing system based on the number of teachers per building.  Because most of our buildings would be unable to meet the number of teachers required to receive the lowest price, ExploreLearning will allow Keystone to be the "building" and purchase the teacher licenses using the group-buy system.  Keystone would then bill back the cost to the school districts.

MyAccesWriting Composition, Gr 6-12

My Access is an on-line writing program that can provide students with the practice they need to improve their writing skills and meet 21st century skills. This program grades students' essays and provides immediate targeted feedback, giving teachers more time to conduct differentiated instruction and curriculum planning. My Access can provide students with additional writing opportunities needed to meet the requirements of the Iowa Core Curriculum.

My Access has 1000+ writing topics or prompts currently available for grades 4 -12 but is recommended for students in grades 6-12. Prompts include a variety of genres, such as narrative, informative, persuasive, literary (text-based) and expository. These prompts are aligned to popular textbook series typically used in Language Arts classrooms and provide cross-curricular writing opportunities in areas such as science, math, social studies and more. Teachers can also create their own prompts based on instructional needs.

My Access provides teachers with informed intervention, supports the use of rubrics in the classroom, and documents improvement with an online portfolio and provides individualized feedback in English and Spanish.
