Last month we introduced Iowa’s Specially Designed Instruction (SDI Framework). We talked about the Guiding Principles and how they are the foundational beliefs that are key as we work together to improve our special education outcomes, services, and SDI for learners here in Iowa.
The language Diagnose, Design, and Deliver will be utilized throughout this framework and will be reflected in the ACHIEVE system. Let’s dig in deeper to the SDI framework.
- Diagnose for Instructional Design (Using RIOT and SCIL)
- Design for Instructional Delivery, and
- Deliver for Learner Engagement
As you think about the 3 “D’s” (Diagnose, Design, Deliver), teams can start anywhere on this framework when problem-solving around a student’s progress.
As the end of the school year approaches, here are some additional reminders regarding special education paperwork. Consider using this End of Year Checklist as reminders for yourself.
Be sure to take some time to do the things you enjoy. We look forward to seeing you at the ACHIEVE Symposium in August - Exciting things are coming!
